Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our authentic Japanese teas.
How should I store my matcha and loose-leaf tea?
To maintain freshness, store your tea in a cool, dark place away from strong odors. Once opened, we recommend sealing the package tightly and consuming matcha within 1 to 2 months for the best flavor profile.
Do you ship your tea directly from Japan?
Yes, all orders are processed and shipped directly from our facilities in Kyoto, Japan, to ensure you receive the freshest possible product through our global logistics partners.
What is the difference between ceremonial and culinary grade tea?
We categorize our teas by their flavor profiles and intended use. Our higher-grade matchas are intended for traditional preparation with water, while others are robust enough to maintain their character when mixed with milk or used in recipes.
How long does international shipping typically take?
Most international orders arrive within 3 to 7 business days, depending on your location and customs processing times. You will receive a tracking number as soon as your order leaves our Kyoto warehouse.
What is your return policy for food products?
Due to the perishable nature of tea, we generally cannot accept returns for food items once they have been shipped. If there is an issue with your order or if a product arrived damaged, please contact our support team within 14 days.
Are your teas tested for quality and safety?
Yes, Ippodo Tea adheres to strict quality control standards. All our teas undergo rigorous testing for safety and are compliant with both Japanese export regulations and international food safety standards.
